Frequently Asked Questions
My rabbit needs to go to the vet. Will you take them?
We will definitely take your rabbit to the vet in case of an emergency! If a scheduled vet visit is needed while you are away, we may be able to help. Please contact us for details.
Do you have experience with special needs rabbits?
Yes! We've cared for rabbits who have had a variety of special needs, including overgrown teeth, blindness, matted fur, chronic illness, head tilt, pregnancy, and stasis. It's no problem to give oral medication, and we have experience giving penicillin injections as well. There is no extra charge for giving your bunny their meds.
What happens if my bunny gets stasis?
We have had a few rabbits go into stasis while boarding with us, Alisha has dealt with stasis dozens of times and keeps Critical Care, Meloxicam, gas drops, and a thermometer on hand at all times. We will contact you right away to let you know, and if we don't believe that it is an emergency, we often recommend treating it at home first, which works 90 - 95% of the time and avoids very costly emergency bills. All but one of our boarding bunnies came out of stasis under Alisha's care without having to go to the vet (and that bunny made a full recovery as well). If you prefer that we take the bunny directly to the ER, we certainly will. With your approval, we would also go to the ER if we don't see improvement in 24 hours or the bunny's temperature drops. You are responsible for all vet costs.

What do you charge?
If you board your rabbits at our house, it is $20 per night per x-pen, not per rabbit. If you have two or three bonded bunnies who share an enclosure, that will still be only $20.

Grooming services vary based on the rabbit's needs.

Nail trims include optional scent gland cleaning and are $10.

How much space will my bunny have?
Many boarding homes, including vets, keep bunnies in relatively small areas. We provide full-size x-pens (5 ft x 5 ft) or larger for every bunny, even though that limits the number of buns we can board. Quality over quantity!
What kinds of food do you use?
Oxbow adult pellets or 100% Timothy hay pellets (your choices!). Fresh veggies typically include romaine lettuce, spring mix, parsley, cilantro, and dandelion greens with occasional variety depending on what looks good! In the summer, we grow our own fresh veggies and herbs in the garden, including carrot tops, dill, and bell peppers.

Buns will have unlimited access to fresh timothy, orchard grass, oat, or botanical hay based on your preference. We recommend timothy as that is a nice firm hay that is good for bunnies' teeth, but some picky buns need special treatment! We typically get Oxbow hay but sometimes have an alternative such as Small Pet Select depending on availability.

We also provide Oxbow simple rewards treats, dried apples, and small bites of banana or blueberries as treats if your bunny is allowed to have them.
Do you provide updates?
Yes! You will get a daily update via text or email (your choice) and a picture of your bun(s).

Do you board any other pets?
Yes, we also have experience with guinea pigs and chinchillas and would be happy to board them!
